Meet the small business Makers
As an independent British brand, we love to support other small businesses like us by searching for and stocking some of the best local treats in our gift boxes. Here is a sneak peek into the people behind some of those small business brands and the makers of the fabulous products.
Chalke Valley Soaps
Chalke Valley Soaps is a small family run business offering 100% natural handmade soaps, bath salts and eco-friendly accessories. It is run by Helga who was inspired by her Grannie who used to make her own soaps using natural lye and different animal fats. A new business set up during the (first) 2020 lockdown, Helga started making melt & pour bars using soap bases she had left in the cupboard from previous projects, but quickly swapped to “real” method to create soap bars from scratch and have 100% control over the ingredients used. This was the opportunity to not only create a completely natural soap but to also ensure that all aspects of her products are kind on our environment by being zero-waste.
Helga has worked hard on mastering the cold process method and after a few fails, lots of practice, a large dose of patience, she believes she has created a unique formula that not only looks and smells amazing but is also kind to your skin and our planet. Helga’s home workshop is located in the beautiful countryside of South West England, also known as the Chalke Valley.
You can find a range of Helga’s soaps (it was too difficult to choose just one!) and exfoliating soap pouches in our boxes.

Flora & Wick
Flora & Wick founder, Ellie McCallum, has creativity running through her veins, that and candle wax!
After leaving Wimbledon School of Art, Ellie embarked upon a career in Costume Design making exquisite pieces for theatre, opera, television and film (Gladiator and The Mummy Returns) before family life and home-sewing took over.
During this time she developed a passion for craft fairs, junk shops and all things vintage which, in turn, led to an unhealthy bone china obsession.
Fast forward a few years, and whilst the sewing was still earning Ellie a crust, her thoughts turned to something more fragrant when her daughter asked for scented candles, in vintage teacups, for her 10th birthday party - finally the bone china fetish made sense.
A business seed was planted and, after relentless research and experimentation Flora and Wick was born.
Made from natural, quality ingredients sourced in the UK, the candles are ethical, vegan and eco-friendly. Flora and Wick candles are created using Ellie’s unique combination of fragrance oils and are lovingly hand-poured, in small batches, in her Wiltshire workshop. Ellie has put together a special batch of tealights for us – in glassine bags made from 100% PEFC pine cellulose which are biodegradable and recyclable.
Made from sustainable plant wax (free from palm wax, beeswax, petroleum, pesticides and herbicides). The wicks are made from pure cotton and linen and are lead-free. Ellie uses soy wax as it is sustainable and clean burning. It is perfect for candles as it burns slowly and holds onto the scent until the very end of the candle’s life.
You can find Ellie’s Night Blooming Jasmine and Honey & Clover tealights in our boxes.

Joe & Seph's
Joe's love of popcorn began while taking regular trips to America, each time bringing back flavoured popcorn as gifts for friends and family. Realising there was nothing quite like this in the UK, Joe began to make his own, by air-popping the corn and coating it in a smooth caramel made from butter, rather than the traditional oil and sugar mix.
After many burnt pans and late night tasting sessions in his family kitchen, Joe along with his wife and son took their popcorn to a food show in 2010. They sold out in two days and shortly after, Joe & Seph's was born.
You can find a variety of Joe & Seph's popcorns (including some of their vegan range) and caramel sauces in our boxes.

Seedball is a non-profit company set up by Emily and Ana to increase the abundance of British wildflowers and wildlife that depend on them.
Emily and Ana want Seedball to inspire a wildlife gardening revolution. Conservation is at the heart of what they do and their dream is to fund Seedball wildflower reserves.
Seedball’s wildflower seeds are encased in clay and peat-free compost so are essentially already “planted”. Once scattered, the outer clay helps to prevent birds and insects from eating the seeds, keeping them protected and ensuring your bee and butterfly wildflower garden has every chance of growing success!
The wildflower for bees seedballs in our boxes are made from 100% recycled card. Each box contains 6 seedballs. You can expect to see 10 sprouts per seedball.
Wald is run by Jakob & Freya, a husband and wife team who met while studying a degree in 3D design. They are the proud parents of 3 little humans and have a studio in Leeds city centre.
Their collection of paper goods, products and prints are made in England with care & attention to ideas, pattern & process.
They work closely with local producers and all products pass through their studio for printing or compiling before heading out to stockists and customers. All paper products are printed and finished in England (mainly in their home county of Yorkshire) using either 100% recycled or FSC certified paper. Wherever possible components such as envelopes, cork and even hooks are sourced from manufacturers in either England or Europe.
You can find Wald’s notebooks and pocket flower presses in our boxes.
